Path to the Lily Pond

Painted on location at a private property north of Omaha, Nebraska. It's one of my favorite places to paint here and is beautiful in every season. Even on gray days, as this day was, it's still just gorgeous. I was looking for a different composition and came across this stone path leading through the flowers to the pond where a wonderful variety of water lilies grow. I rarely use paint straight out of the tube, but the yellow flowers called for some straight cadmium yellow deep! Really fun to paint.
