Horseshoe Island View

Painted in Peninsula State Park, Door County, Wisconsin, during the 2023 Door County Plein Air Festival. In all the years I've been invited to the festival (this was year 16!), I've never painted in the state park. This view of Horseshoe Island is stunning, but especially so in the early morning. I painted this in two sessions. The smoke from the Canadian wildfires made for some very soft but beautiful sunrises and reflections on the water. I really loved the character of the tree as well...it made the composition.
