Lily Lake - Psalm 147:7,8

This was painted at Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park during the Estes Park Plein Air in August 2009. The skies were threatening for much of the time I painted. Suddenly there were these dark clouds against the white layer of clouds as a storm was moving in. I loved the mood they lent to the scene. I chose the verses 7 and 8 of Psalm 147 as the title of this piece. Appropriately they read: "Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving. Sing praises on the harp to our God, who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains." As Abby was also, I am awed the majesty of God's creation.
